Inspired by the first aid kits provided in work trucks at remote forestry worksites, the Glovebox Kit is designed to withstand the rigours of backcountry adventures or a season in the bush. The first aid supplies are organized in injury-specific compartments and offer solutions to an array of potential injuries and illnesses.
Included: multifunctional cleaning solutions, ample bandaging, instruments, responder safety, wellness supplies and more! Over 100 items included, with room for the addition of extra items of your choosing. All products are high quality and are carefully selected with your beloved four-legged companion in mind.
Your pet’s safety is our priority – the Glovebox Kit provides the essential supplies needed to respond safely to an injured animal until qualified veterinarian help is accessed.

- Cotton tip applicators – to clean debris in ears
- Hemostats – tweezer-like capabilities with strong, locking/clamping capability. Use for removal of thorns, ticks, porcupine quills
- Syringe – Use to measure liquid medication (such as Hydrogen Peroxide), or to flush out wounds with water with forceful irrigation
- Bubble wrap – can be used to as padding in splints, and can be cut into 4 squares and wrapped around each individual paw (with elastics) to prevent heat loss in a hypothermic pet
- Canned A/D food – Nutritional support that encourages eating for pets recovering from surgery, illness or injury. Check date of expiry prior to giving
- Fortiflora probiotics – supports a healthy immune system, promotes intestinal health + balance, helps reduce flatulence, helps improve stool quality and supports digestive health. Check date of expiry prior to giving
- Freeze-dried salmon treats – Check date of expiry prior to giving
- Clif bar – sometimes when we are responding to an injured animal or serious situation, we forget to look after ourselves. This item is included to prevent hypoglycemia in the first responder. Check date of expiry prior to consuming
- Non-adherent dressing – apply directly to superficial, abrasion-type wounds to promote fast wound healing
- Gauze pads – variety of uses. Can be used as contact/first layer for bleeding wounds, cleaning ears or wiping eyes.
- Cotton Roll – wrap around first layer of bandaging to provide cushioning, especially in areas where bandaging will cover a bending joint.
- Roller gauze – 3rd layer of bandaging
- Vetrap – outermost layer of bandaging
- All-purpose flour – can be used as a clotting agent on minor bleeding nails. Apply direct pressure with adequate bandaging to bleeding nails that do not stop bleeding with clotting agent.
- Lubricating jelly – for rectal thermometer use
- Saline – flushing out eyes or abrasion-type wounds
- Dish soap – cleaning surfaces or hands. Skunk spray bath mixture: Mix a solution of 1 liter of 3% hydrogen peroxide solution, 1/4 cup baking soda, and 1 teaspoon liquid dishwashing soap. Lather dog with solution immediately, avoid contact around eyes.
- Chlorhexidine soap + scrub brush – surgical-grade antibacterial soap, can be used to clean wounds or yeasty paws. Dilute with water
- Epsom salt – dissolve in water, soak and soothe infected or irritated skin
- Baking soda – mix with water to create a paste, apply to bee stings to neutralize stinging sensation. Ingredient in skunk spray bath
- Manuka honey – can be applied topically to superficial wounds while they heal to maintain a moist wound environment, anti-microbial, anti-fungal and aids in the inflammatory response during wound healing. Can also be given sublingually to prevent hypoglycemia
- Hydrogen Peroxide – only at the recommendation of a veterinarian, give orally to induce vomiting after a suspected or known toxic ingestion. Give 0.5-1mL per pound of body weight once
- High-visibility flagger – tie around collar for visibility in the outdoors, especially in areas where hunting is prevalent
- Garbage bag – can be used as a makeshift rain jacket
- Benadryl – Well-tolerated antihistamine. Give only at the recommendation of a veterinarian 2-4mg/kg of body weight up to 3 times a day for allergic relief
- PAWZ bootie – plastic bootie to protect bandaging around paws. Can also be used as a chest seal to cover sucking chest wounds
IT IS RECOMMENDED TO ADD A MUZZLE TO YOUR FIRST AID KIT THAT HAS BEEN PROPERLY FITTED TO YOUR DOG. ANY DOG HAS THE POTENTIAL TO BITE DURING STRESSFUL SITUATIONS, OR WHEN IN PAIN/FEAR. MUZZLING ENSURES YOUR SAFETY. DO NOT MUZZLE DOGS THAT ARE UNCONSIOUS, REPEATEDLY VOMITING OR THAT HAVE SUSTAINED SKULL/JAW INJURIES. DO NOT LEAVE A MUZZLED DOG UNATTENDED.
